The Second Round of the Gov-Lab Project

Accelerating digital processes in the government service and strengthening technological capabilities to improve the citizens’ experience.

When, if at all, can we create a real impact on how we, the citizens of Israel, experience the government services we need? We are especially proud of the collaborative and exciting work with various government ministries, leading technological and digital revolutions that will improve all of our lives.

As part of the second round of the Gov-Lab project (a Business-Technological Acceleration Program in collaboration with the Israel National Digital Agency and Amazon Web Services – AWS), we had the privilege of working with three government ministries: the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs, and the Enforcement and Collection Authority. The aim is to address significant challenges through advanced digital solutions and entrepreneurial, creative thinking.

What is the goal, essentially?

The primary objective is to accelerate processes that are significant and contribute to government services, strengthen the technological capabilities of the ministries, and introduce methodologies and tools from the startup world. This involves fast-tracking complex challenges that characterize our daily lives, with a focus on citizen services: rehabilitation processes for individuals with mental health issues, digital engagement with youth in criminal processes, and improving public service centers.

What does the process involve?

The magic happens through the collaborative work of Strauss Strategy, the National Digital Agency, AWS, and the government ministries. We started by mapping and refining the business needs of each ministry, designing tailored digital solutions, developing the product, and, of course, planning until the product fully reaches the citizens.

What do we expect to achieve at the end of the process?

The desired outcome is three value-focused digital products/services that will be ready for initial user testing, followed by a broader rollout. The second cycle of the Gov-Lab program maintains the exceptional standard set by the first, and we are excited for the third cycle, which will be conducted in partnership with Salesforce and position the ministries at the forefront of the digital arena.

Bottom line:

With the completion of this joint journey, we can agree on the tremendous contribution of the Gov-Lab program in enhancing the ability of government ministries to provide higher-quality services to citizens through advanced digital tools and the streamlining of internal processes. We are proud of our collaboration with the National Digital Bureau, the government ministries, and the rare opportunity to impact the design and value of public services.
